To celebrate its 125th anniversary, Avon launched Avon Voices, the company’s first-ever global online singing talent search for women and songwriting competition for men and women. Avon invited people from more than 60 countries, along with its 6.5 million Independent Sales Representatives, to ignite a global movement through music. The program was designed to motivate and engage Representatives and consumers through the universal language of music.
A renowned judging panel of music industry leaders from around the world included: Fergie, six-time Grammy award winner; Diane Warren, legendary songwriter; Natasha Bedingfield, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter; Delta Goodrem, Australian Artist of the Decade; Lea Salonga, Filipina singer and actress; Ivete Sangalo, Brazil’s biggest pop star; and Russian sensation Valeriya.
Winners were announced on November 2, 2011 at the 11th annual Avon Foundation for Women Global Voices for Change Gala in New York. In the Avon Representative category, Selena Gittens from Canada took the top honor. Evelina Anusauskaite from Lithuania was the general public winner. Gittens and Anusauskaite advanced through three rounds of voting with 2.5 million votes cast from around the world and received one-on-one coaching from the judges. The Avon Voices celebrity judges along with public online voting determined the two winners
